Critical pedagogy influences social justice more outside prisons than inside them

Evidence

Given the peculiarities of teaching students in jails and prisons, critical pedagogy might present more problems than solutions. In practice, its application to social justice may have more influence outside of prison walls than it does inside of them, yet its (critical pedagogy) commitment to equity and resistance to pedagogical methods rooted in the “banking concept of education” do have unique application in the context of prisons. — James D.
