Concentrated psychological harm is hidden among evidently ordinary young women
Evidence
Imagine you teach introductory psychology, and the next time you are in class, you draw a little mental box around the eight women sitting nearest the center of the room. They are probably smiling and chatting, eager to hear more about Pavlov’s dogs. But if your students are like mine, then probably: Seven of the eight have been sexually harassed during the past year. Three or four of them have been manipulated into having unwanted sex. Two of them have had to fight off a rapist by this point in their lives. One of them was sexually abused as a young child. — Bob Altemeyer, The Authoritarian Specter, 2466
