Complex listening relies on higher-level signal segregation beyond energetic masking

Evidence

Based on magnetoencephalography findings from a similar paradigm, Elhilali et al. ( 2009 ) proposed that the perceptual segregation of the modulated target from the distractors arises from temporal coherence of cortical activity patterns with the target. Whether tACS phase modulates this temporal coherence and therewith the segregability of the target remains to be shown; the preliminary data presented here indicate a trend toward a possible effect of 4-Hz tACS phase, as in experiment 1. — Dijk, Pim van, Physiology, Psychoacoustics and…, 4768 (#expands, via linked claim)
