Click pairs separated by small intervals are perceived as a distinct pitch
Evidence
The standard use of the word echo has been to refer to a sound returning late enough that it can be distinguished as a separate arrival, about 0.1 s or more delay, but we have used the term more broadly to include earlier reflections and reverberations. It is a very interesting exercise to listen to pairs of clicks separated by various times. A distinct pitch develops for pairs of clicks differing by 0.05 to 0.0001 s. β Eric J.
