Cinema reference level requires 105 dBC peak capability in screen channels.

Evidence

In movies standardized playback sound levels apply to the dubbing stages in which soundtracks are mixed and cinemas in which they are reproduced (SMPTE RP200-2012). The measurements are made using a broadband pink noise test signal and a C-weighted sound pressure level measurement, with the meter set to slow response. The reference level is 85 dBC, for the screen channels, and 82 dBC for each of the surround channels. All these levels assume 20 dB headroom. This means that L, C, R screen channels must each be capable of 105 dBC, and each surround channel 102 dBC. — Toole, Floyd E, Sound reproduction- the acoustics and…, 851
