Christian forces slaughtered prisoners and mosque refugees in the Alpujarras

Evidence

It was actually troops under the command of Luis de Beaumont, constable of Navarre on the other (eastern) front, who were involved in what became the most infamous incidents of the whole campaign: the slaughter of the 3,000 prisoners taken at Andarax and the blowing up of a nearby mosque with 600 refugees, women and children, inside. Although this all took place in Queen Isabella’s realms, Ferdinand’s reputation in the world at large suffered as well when the brutality of this campaign of repression became known. (An Arabic lament on the subject of the atrocities was to cause a considerable impact as far away as Istanbul.) — L. P. Harvey, Muslims in Spain, 1500 to 1614, 212 (#exemplifies, via linked claim)
