Christian disunity directly blocked infidel conversions

Evidence

The heresies or divisions among Christians are not only damaging to Christianity but also prevent Christians from converting infidels: it is told, says Llull, that a Saracen, convinced that Christianity was better than Islam, came to a Christian land. But there he saw, in disgust, that Christians could not agree among themselves, and not knowing whether to become a Nestorian, Jacobite, Greek, or Latin Christian, he left without converting. — John V. Tolan, Saracens, 1335
