Chinese immigrants were barred from US citizenship until 1943

Evidence

To stop this so-called Yellow Peril, Congress passed the Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882, which barred Chinese citizens from immigrating to the United States. The law was extended for another ten years in the Geary Act of 1892, which was upheld by the US Supreme Court in Fong Yue Ting v. United States. Chinese immigrants already in the country could not become naturalized citizens until 1943. — Sahar F. Aziz, The Racial Muslim, 338
