Censorship drove protest magazines onto cheap mimeograph production.
Evidence
In the face of censorship, mimeographed magazines appeared: early 1962 brought a new one devoted to topical and protest songs, Broadside. The editors, sometime folk musician Sis Cunningham, fifty-three, and her husband, the journalist Gordon Friesen, fifty-two, were veteran Oklahoma leftists who relocated to New York in the late 1940s. — J.
