Castilian favoritism toward settlers in land disputes fueled Muslim resentment
Evidence
MojĀ“acar was the largest village of this area, and Christian settlers were already beginning to be attracted to what is still today a place of great charm; their arrival, the ways in which the local administration favored them in land disputes, among other things, caused resentment. When baptism began to be forced on the Muslims of this region in early 1501, the people of Turre and Teresa decided they must after all leave, and on their way out of the country they resolved to take the opportunity to strike a blow at enemies in MojĀ“acar. ā L.
