Canada’s 2021 election saw far-right vote tripling despite COVID success.

Evidence

The election results bore out what we saw at the door: Trudeau, who had called a snap election because he was certain he could parlay Canada’s fight against Covid into a parliamentary majority, ended up exactly where he started: still the prime minister, but with a parliamentary minority. Avi managed to double the number of NDP votes in his district, but the Trudeau Liberals still held the seat (not a surprise). Meanwhile, the far-right People’s Party tripled its vote nationally. It could have been worse, but it wasn’t good. — Naomi Klein, Doppelganger, 627
