Burning trapped looters ended a three-day siege battle
Evidence
The Muslims, following at a safe distance, saw Don John and his men off their land and then turned back to where the remnant of looters were by now trapped in some of the houses and churches. Fighting went on round these buildings for three days, and then the Muslims ended the matter by setting ο¬re to the buildings with the soldiers still inside. In this engagement (at one unimportant village) the Spaniards lost more than six hundred men and more than a thousand swords and harquebuses. β L. P. Harvey, Muslims in Spain, 1500 to 1614, 1055
