Avila Moriscos kept trusting the rule of law after courts rejected them

Evidence

The fact that the individual petitions for exemption were rejected by the courts surprisingly did not lead the Moriscos to desist. These were men who had grown up in ´Avila, confident of their position in Castilian society and of the rule of law. They must have thought that it existed for them as well as for the Old Christians. They do not seem to have grasped the fact that times had changed. — L. P. Harvey, Muslims in Spain, 1500 to 1614, 1125 (#expands, via linked claim)
