Avalanche magazine modeled its format directly on Artforum’s design
Evidence
Information was reinforced by the appearance of a new magazine. Employing the same slick paper-and-squarish format as Artforum, Avalanche—published by Taki’s accomplice Willoughby Sharp and edited by Liza Béar—was more ostentatiously ascetic in eschewing color photography as well as more rigorous in its exclusive devotion to new, largely conceptual artists. — J.
