Authoritarians even decline face-threatening prejudice feedback when offered anonymously
Evidence
I next wondered if Highs would directly tell me they flat out did not want to receive bad news about themselves. Beginning in 1992, I frequently inserted the following question at the end of my Ethnocentrism Scale, when students had answered it anonymously. “Suppose, for the sake of argument, that you are less accepting, less tolerant and more prejudiced against minority groups than are most of the other students serving in this experiment. Would you want to find this out, say by having the Experimenter bring individual sheets to your class, showing each student privately his/her prejudice score compared with the rest of the class?” — Bob Altemeyer, The Authoritarian Specter, 1859
