Authoritarian loyalty follows whoever was taught as legitimate authority in childhood
Evidence
By definition, revolutions change the system. Who constitutes the “established authorities” then, that High RWAs will support in their hearts? I think it depends largely on who they were taught were the legitimate authorities when they were growing up (though this is not necessarily chiseled in stone forever). Thus I suspect many Russians who grew up honoring the czar did not accept their new Communist masters, even after the civil war and foreign interventions ended. Rather amazingly, they apparently transmitted their devotion to the czar to some of their descendants, for a small czarist party exists in Russia today, over seventy-five years after Nicholas II was murdered. — Bob Altemeyer, The Authoritarian Specter, 4281

- XREF: Directly relevant to the vault’s claim that RWA predicts support for established authorities — shows the construct attaches to taught authority, not to right-wing positions per se, which nuancially connects to Whitehead & Perry on Christian nationalism as taught legitimate order.
