Anti-death-penalty advocacy inadvertently shaped the drug supply for executions
Evidence
Writing the majority opinion, Justice Samuel A. Alito argued that the inmates failed to identify a preferable alternative method of execution (Liptak, 2015). He blamed the problem on opponents of the death penalty for pressuring pharmaceutical companies to refuse to supply drugs for executions. Justice Sonia Sotomayor criticized the ruling as allowing highly painful methods if available alternatives are even more barbarous. — Albert Bandura, Moral Disengagement, 2082
