Anti-colonial political movements grew from a shared rationality debate.

Evidence

The rationality debate traces origins and developments in African philosophy while also exploring distinguishing features that separate Western from African philosophy. The rationality debate critiques Western philosophy for denigrating the African worldview while upholding everything European in a manner similar to the violent processes of slavery and colonization in Africa. Counter-responses from Africans gave rise to Negritude, the Harlem Renaissance, Pan-Africanism, nationalism and Black Consciousness, which developed as both political ideologies and political movements. Their main objective was rediscovering the ancestral philosophical worldview and spiritual values denigrated and distorted by colonial education. — Frans Dokman, Beyond Bantu Philosophy_
