Evidence
One of the first events, reported in the Voice as an expression of the “espresso underground,” was a four-hour debate on “The Art of Protesting” (and screwing The System) that featured thirty-seven-year-old poet Tuli Kupferberg (a “red diaper” child of Communist parents and apostle of Wilhelm Reich), Realist editor and Lenny Bruce disciple Paul Krassner, thirty, and Doc Humes, basically pitting this trio of anarchists against the sober pacifists in the audience, estimated at two hundred. — J.
