An unbroken chain of Muslim Spanish authors quoted Isa of Segovia across two centuries
Evidence
In spite of the arguments against seeing Isa of Segovia as the principal creative and determining influence at the origins of aljamiado writings, there is an impressive cultural continuity to be discerned among Islamic authors from Spain writing in Romance, and Isa’s writings were quoted, for example, by the Mancebo de (“Young Man”) from Ar´evalo (among many others) in the sixteenth century, and who in his turn was quoted by Muhammad Rabadan and then by Ibrahim Taybili (in whom the tradition reaches its end in North African exile in the seventeenth century). This inclines me to ascribe a seminal role to Isa of Segovia. All Muslim writers in Spain after his date looked back to this imam. — L. P. Harvey, Muslims in Spain, 1500 to 1614, 635
