An enslaved man named Sancho was bequeathed across three generations of the Taylor family.
Evidence
When Colonel Taylor died, he left Sancho to his son Benjamin Franklin. When Benjamin died, he in turn gifted Sancho to his son Captain Thomas Taylor, who fought in the civil war. Sancho died at the age of 72 and his tombstone is in the small Taylor plot at Trinity Cathedral. He was a minister and preacher in Columbia showing freedom of actions. He must have had very close personal relationships to all three of his Taylor owners for him to be buried in Trinity Church in their plot. He is the only negro in that graveyard. — Tamara Lanier, From These Roots, 473
