An acquittal in a politically charged murder trial triggered the 1927 Vienna uprising.
Evidence
The precipitating event had come six months earlier when members of the right-wing militia Frontkämpfer marched in a heavily Social Democratic area. Harassed by members of the Social Democratic militia, the Frontkämpfer fired into the crowd, killing a worker and a child. Six months later, the result of their closely watched trial was complete acquittal, enraging workers who saw it as a case of skewed standards. … Workers marched to the Parliament on the far side of the Ringstrasse from the Chamber of Commerce. The Palace of Justice became the target of their anger at the court’s verdict, and part of the crowd stormed the building and set it on fire, while others blocked fire trucks, cut hoses, and opened up other hydrants to reduce water pressure, defiantly impeding the city’s functions. — Quinn Slobodian, Globalists, 161
