American national identity remains fundamentally Judeo-Christian at its core

Evidence

Accordingly, I argue that a Protestant—later expanded to a Judeo- Christian—identity is integral to America’s predominantly White national identity. Whether being Judeo-Christian is interpreted by religious conservatives as ascribing moral goodness or by liberal elites as ascribing secular goodness, not following the New or Old Testament makes Muslims outsiders. Until this national identity changes to include other faiths, Muslims will continue to suffer the negative consequences of non-White racial status. — Sahar F. Aziz, The Racial Muslim, 159
