All resonance reduces to structure, drive, and in-phase response
Evidence
Resonance with a source (a “drive”) has many guises, but it is always, underneath, the same phenomenon, involving a structure, a drive, and an in-phase response to the drive. Any undulatory motion is susceptible to resonance, including waves of all types, indeed anything that oscillates. The phenomenon of resonance has a lot to do with timing (the in-phase issue), as Galileo’s remarkable discussion at the beginning of this chapter makes clear. — Eric J.
