Algerian Jews joined the F.L.N. as spies against French rule
Evidence
Yet another important group to be won over to the F.L.N., by an adroit combination of carrot and stick, came from the Jewish community of Algeria, notably its intellectuals. In August 1956 a group of Constantine Jews wrote a public letter, declaring that “One of the most pernicious manoeuvres of colonialism in Algeria was, and remains, the division between Jews and Muslims … the Jews have been in Algeria for over 2,000 years; they are thus an integral part of the Algerian people.…” The Jews were to provide invaluable services as “the eyes and ears of the revolution”, in the words of Frantz Fanon; often acting in the role of double agents against the French. — Horne, Alistair, A Savage War of Peace- Algeria 1954-1962, 431
