Africa’s 1.3 billion people produce just 3% of world GDP.

Evidence

In the approximately 150 trillion global market, the US accounts for about 22%, China 16%, followed by Japan with 6%. The EU counts for about 17%, with Germany counting for 5%, France about 4%, the UK about 4% and Bel- gium around 0.6%. Despite its vast mineral deposits the African continent, with 54 countries and about 1.3 billion people, has a combined GDP of about 2.5 trillion. In other words, with about 17% of world population, Africa accounts for a mere 3% of the world economy, less than a single European country, such as France or the UK. — Frans Dokman, Beyond Bantu Philosophy_…, 745
