Absolute knowledge is knowledge of its own limit, beyond which lies heterogeneity

Evidence

This consequence touches Absolute Knowledge itself. Not Absolute Knowledge as a self-enclosed knowledge, or Absolute Knowledge as a non-knowledge, but rather Absolute Knowledge as knowledge of its own limit, of its proper (?) limit, of the limit of knowledge as knowledge, in two words as knowledge (of that) of which no knowledge is to be had. The Absolute Knowledge would still know that there is nothing to know, especially no object, beyond the form of knowledge. And the form of knowledge of Absolute Knowledge would still be a limit, its own, and that it still knows, on its own edge, but beyond which there would be nothing knowable, only a heterogeneous unknown to all knowledge. — Catherine Malabou, The Future of Hegel, 133

Categorization

  • DEFINE: Reshapes Absolute Knowledge away from closure toward self-aware limitation — key to how Malabou re-reads Hegel against the received passive end-of-history image.
  • XREF: Reverberates with the reader’s MOC thread: if the enemy is Absolute-Knowledge-like in knowing its own limit, the definer’s mastery is structurally bounded by what escapes it.
