Above 200 Hz the spectral peak, not the ringing, determines resonance audibility.
Evidence
We may hear some of both, but for frequencies above about 200 Hz, the measurable evidence of audibility appears to be the spectral peak. The audibility of resonances is best described by the anechoic frequency response curve. This topic is discussed in more detail in Toole and Olive, 1988. At low bass frequencies the time-domain misbehavior exists over longer durations, and 135. there is the potential of hearing both the spectral feature and the ringing. This will be discussed in Chapter 14. β Toole, Floyd E, Sound reproduction- the acoustics andβ¦, 501
