A single home missionary made thousands of visits and organized hundreds of meetings

Evidence

Moore was the first missionary to be commissioned by the Chicago-based Women’s Baptist Home Mission Society when it was organized in 1877. Stationed in Louisiana between 1877 and 1878, she submitted to the WBHMS her report of having made 5,000 visits as well as 300 Bible readings and teachers’ meetings. She conducted four sewing schools and children’s meetings on a weekly basis and formed seventy-five Sunday schools. — Evelyn Brooks Higginbotham, Righteous Discontent, 466
