A prominent skeptic’s reanalysis confirmed that human emissions drive virtually all warming
Evidence
The physics professor Richard Muller, a leading scientific skeptic regarding global warming, assembled a distinguished group of scientists at the University of California, Berkeley, to reanalyze the large body of evidence along with climate changes much farther back in time (Muller, 2012). Their findings provided convincing evidence that, indeed, global warming is real and that human-caused emissions of greenhouse gases account for virtually all of it. These findings are stronger than those reported in the IPCC consensus statements, which had to be watered down to gain unanimity. The Berkeley reanalysis used more sophisticated analytic methods with more complete atmospheric data from as far back as 1753. Natural occurrences that skeptics invoked as the true cause of global warming, such as volcanic and solar activity and ocean currents, had small, short-lived effects or no effect at all. Adjustments for these various factors did not alter the relation between human greenhouse gas production and rising temperatures. — Albert Bandura, Moral Disengagement, 2735 (
