A global movement sought to rename Agassizhorn after the enslaved man Renty

Evidence

I was not prepared and had never spoken publicly about Renty before, so I was incredibly nervous. As I took to the podium, I remembered the interest people had at the Molly Rogers event, but that was an intimate crowd! And they all spoke English! This was different: there were dignitaries from the Democratic Republic of the Congo; journalists from Switzerland, Germany, and Italy; a professor from Brazil; and so many young people! That encouraged me the most—that students in their teens and twenties were interested in retelling the Agassiz story from Renty’s point of view. That was, after all, what Hans and Sasha were proposing with this exhibit and de-mounting movement. — Tamara Lanier, From These Roots, 308
