A forced-baptism risk of Muslims under Inquisition custody nearly ignited a Valencian revolt
Evidence
In 1502, news leaked out that two Muslims were in jail (Meyerson 1991, 59) accused of having dissuaded other Muslims from being baptized. When subsequently the story spread that the two were themselves in process of being prepared for baptism inside the Inquisition building, what had happened in Granada in 1500, a conflagration, seemed about to be repeated in Valencia. — L.
