A flood of mummy films paired the Egyptian monster with every imaginable topic.

Evidence

Soon came the Egyptian mummy movies, one after another, featuring an Egyptian monster stalking and often killing Europeans or Americans. The early twentieth century saw an explosion of these films-so many, in fact, that the mummy was paired with every imaginable object, as titles like The Mummy and the Cowpunchers (1912) and The Mummy and the Two early versions of The Mummy were produced in 1913 and 1914, and 85 years later, a new film, also titled The Mummy, was released that recreated these films in a campy but violent way. — Sophia Rose Arjana, Muslims in the Western Imagination, 709
