A false anti-Italian informer admitted he invented his accusations out of personal revenge

Evidence

Once he reached Shalambot, Osman sought out the informer and told him that what he had done was reprehensible. Warsame defended himself by declaring that his action was revenge against Ahmed Mohamud, who had tried to seduce his wife. Osman challenged the accuser’s excuse, who finally admitted that he had concocted the story and agreed to confess his wrongdoing in the presence of two other friends. The latter two were civil servants in Shalambot. Osman and the two witnesses decided to wait to see if the accused were acquitted and to not report their finding to the authorities. — Abdi Ismail Samatar, Africa’s First Democrats, 160
